Description:

The global rise in dengue incidence and its expanding geographic spread have been driven by factors such as population growth, virus evolution, urbanization and climate change. While dengue was traditionally seen as a pediatric disease, shifts in population demographics and the implementation of effective vector and disease control measures have reshaped the age distribution of cases to more adult dengue. Here, we discuss the evolving dengue epidemiology with focus on Asia, and its impact on disease susceptibility and severity. This underscores the need for effective control strategies such as the use of novel tools for vector control and medical interventions.
